I always wonder what it is about Mehdi Hasan's voice that is so captivating. It seems that almost anything that he would sing would sound good. If it is a specific quality of his voice what is it? If it is some specific way he uses his voice what is it? Would people of other cultures who have never heard such music find his voice as captivating or is it (i.e. the singing, not the ghazal) a culture-specific thing?
