Came across this lovely video clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AlpAmkEH0E

Beautiful rendition of a garland of ragas. The transitions are done quite well.
Is ragamalika singing traditionally done in HM? I thought this was unique to CM.

rAgamAlikAs are seldom performed by vocalists. It is more commn with instrumentalists. They call it rAgmAlA.

I managed to download the file but it would not play either on the WMA palyer or the Realplayer.
I get a message saying the the format used is not supported.
Is it possible for you upload it on sendspace or mediafire.com? The latter is better. Thanks.

Our family had this (on a 78 rpm disc sung by Pandit Narayanrao Vyas) in the 30s. I had heard it often in the 40s.

Some of the good raagmaalas that i have heard are from vocalists and not instrumentalist and hence , IMHO, would think that vocalist are better able to potray the "ras". Some of the raagmaalas i can suggest:

1. Hindol gavat sab- Composed and sung by Late. Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki- Shaunak Bhai sings it wonderfully. I had heard it on tape and in person( when he sang it at SGS Sabha ,. Chennai few years ago)

2. Yaman Kalyan - Composed by Swargeeya Pt. Ramashray Jha and sung by Shuba Mudgal

3. Durga Matha Bhavani Devi - Sung by Vidushi Veena Sahasrabuddhe

I thought I must correct a bit of inaccuracy regarding a reference to Ragamala "Hindol Gavat Sab". It is not composed by Pt Jitendra Abhisekhi but by Pandit Bholanath Bhatt "Karharpriya Das". He taught this to Kumar Shyamanand Singh and Pt Ramashreya Jha 'Ramrang'. I have both these as well as one by Shounak Abhisekhi. It is a ragamala of 18 ragas.
