Must be the one where trijaTa (tirisaDai to use the tamizh name) tells sItA about her dream (foretelling rAvaNa's defeat)....

Sunday the 5th wasn't all that bad rain-wise. We made it to Nithyasri Mahadevan's concert for Kartik Fine Arts all the way from Thiruvanmiyur in good time. A full house (Narada Gana Sabha) for a good concert featuring Khamas, Dhanyasi, Saramati, Hemavati.

Going to a Sudha concert in rain hoping to hear the Blind Monkey Song and arriving 5 minutes before the start of the concert is not the mark of a true rasika.

Nor is it going to a NithyaShriek concert with hopes of hearing the rasam song.

True rasikas lined up at 2:30 pm at the Chettinad Vidyashram just for a seat at the 6:30 pm concert of The Purveyor of Abhangs, even putting up with Sowmya's presentation of Utsava Sampradaya Krithis which would have soured their mood for "Madu Meikkum Kanne".

That is the mark of a true rasika of which we have plenty in Chennai! |(

These are the people you need to salute.

ROFL @ Madu Meikkum Kanne.Crowd puller ? pulls crowd by calling all the listeners over phone n inviting them personally. To add shedding few tears adds lot of seasoning in front all oldies .....( I would request the rasikas to read Vidushi.Radha Bhaskars comment on Aruna Sairam and U Srinivas unique Jugalbandhi )

MA 2010 concert .. ADI talam rtp had no calculation .. Salutations to the rasikas who call her carnatic legend :P

Sundararajan: Perhaps this can help http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBMuAhUe0ms
It is a rather unfortunate play on words for the song Man ki Ankhen kholo (open the mind's eye). For those inclined to hearing it that way, "Man ki" morphs into monkey, thus rendering the song "open the monkey's eye". Hence, the blind monkey song. It is vintage Harimau.

song Man ki Ankhen kholo (open the mind's eye)/blind monkey song.
Sometimes, it represents the state of the individuals' mind...anyway, I think the sentiments in that lovely bhajan are rather similar to the sentiments of Sri OVK's in his 'kaNNai tirandupAr manamE'

Ravi, I defer to your wisdom and superior knowledge in all matters linguistic.
I had not thought of the similarity with the OVK song earlier. I will try to google the lyrics of the tamizh song now.
