Ashwin gave a very pleasing recital under the auspices of Sapthaswara, a chamber music forum in Malleswaram. Particularly liked the Nayaki, Sankarabharanam and RTP. Nayaki alapana was very sensitively played and could identify with how faithfully he stuck to the Ranganayakam Sahityam. A nice detailed alapana of Sankarabharanam followed with Dikshitar's not-so-often heard masterpiece Akshaya linga vibho. Not so often we hear neravals on instruments these days and Ashwin gave a very nice round of neraval @ akshara swaroopa followed by swarams. The RTP was the highlight of the evening with a detailed alapana and tanam. An apt pallavi was chosen with ragamalika swarams followed by an energetic Tani. Veena Vid. Revathi Sadasivam gave a very informative Vote of Thanks. Ashwin's skillful handling of the instrument and sensitive playing made it a memorable evening.
