Next to MLV is her husband Vikatam Krishnamurthy--a wonderful Mimic--once during a music festival in Bombay in the 50's at Shanmukhanada sabha he gave a 90 minute 'stand-up comedy routine--imitating Rajaji,Kamaraj et al and had the audience in stitches. The gentleman on the right looks familiar to me but cannot recall now.

Mama was 86 and Mami was 72--what radiance and "lakshmeekaram' in both their faces..
MLV died in 1990@ 62-just 2 years after this photo--the last year before her death, despite the acute suffering she went thro, she was very stoic about it.

A classy artiste--awesome talent but humble to the core,an elder sister to her disciples, treated the accompaniments with great respect and generosity. MLV loved my Mom's vattal Kuzhambu whenever she visited Bombay.

An embarrassing anecdote in my next post!!

Respected Rasikas,

We had an old recording from "Parvathi", Mysore of Dr. M.L.V.'s concert in 1972.
It was such a beautiful concert that in-spite of small audio irritations here and there we really wanted all of you to hear
the wide elaborations that she goes through, here, in her "Bhajans, Dasa compositions and Ragamalikas".

As usual she has a fine team to accompany her in Smt Prabhavathi, Sri Subrahmanyam,Sri Krishnamurthy Rao and Sri H.P.Ramachar.

Thanking you as always in your kindness,

Dear Cpblog team

In the recently uploaded MLV concert with gamanashramA RTP - the kalyANi and bhairavi suites are from the previous Parvathi Concert in 1971 where she has sung a RTP in Bhairavi. The 1971 concert has Ghatam accompaniment which is clear in the neraval of the kalyani piece. This concert with kanjira as upa pakkavadyam clearly gives this away.

Please remove the two pieces from the upload of the new concert.

Thanks for the wonderful music, as always.

Rgds

Dear Arunsri,

We remain very obliged to you for your keen sense with the music, and for taking the trouble to point out these inconsistencies.
A true Rasika!
We hope we have made the modifications as you desired (please let us know if not).

Best Wishes,

The tamizh version. Aditya are you sure it is P. Leela in the telugu version. I think the youtube link is correct in that the other singer is Soolamangalam Smt. Rajalaksjmi (one of the Soolamangalam Sisters)...
