All the students of Carnatic music start their early lessons with Ganamrutha Bodhini and Ganamrutha Varnamalika.

The notable vidwan (who notated initial lessons for the benefit of beginners as well as performing artistes) is no more with us.

Here is a tribute

How many first timers would have started learning with the help of his books! Innumerable.

I recall way back in '96 at a TNK concert in BARC, Bombay. Sri Panchapakesa Iyer was the chief guest of sorts and he spoke about how TNK had accompanied all the great vidwans like SSI, GNB etc.

TNK replied, "he mentioned that I accompanied vidwans like GNB, SSI etc. but didn't mention that I have accompanied him also!"

I never heard ASP sing but that is some high praise indeed by one of the giants of Indian violin.
