Dear vkv, cmlover and Rasikas,

I have opened a new thread "Evolution of carnatic music in films" to day.

I have touched upon the contributions of Sivan for the carnatic music krithis in Tamil and his contributions to film music.

The efforts of MMI and DKJ in popularising Tamil krithis of Sivan and a LEC-DEM on Sivan by Sri DKJ.

Kindly visit the thread and post your valuable comments in the thread.

S.NAGESWARAN.

Wonderful right up ,I got to know significantly more about madurai gold standard mani especially his poojarajitha mudrA. What I always like in him is his perspectives of different genres of music will be taken and be anchored to one branch of music that he presents.

Mani, now at the age of 77, is a consultant and advisor to many present-day music directors of Tamil cinema. So what does the veteran think about today's film music? “It has gone too mechanized but the orchestration has developed well,”

Quite a precise summary of today's film music. I did not know he still acts as a consultant and advisor to music directors. May be some of the film songs with interesting carnatic flavor are created with input from him. Next time someone encounters him, please ask which movies he had consulted for.
